On May 18th, 2019 the Trailblazers will again be partnering with the S. Platte Ranger District in the BCRA of the Pike National Forest.  We will be performing maintenance on the upper section of Nice Kitty Trail re-building the upper hairpin, improving drainage on the upper boardwalk & correcting entrenchment at several locations as time permits.  We’ll be hiking down from the intersection of Buffalo Burn Trail & Colorado Trail Sec. 2.  Links to Trail Day Detail, Directions & Map PDF files for Display, Print &/or Download will be forward in an e-mail registration acknowledgement to you for this event.

Description:

  • From Denver take U.S. 285 south to County Highway 126 at Pine Junction, turn south for approximately 10 miles through Pine Grove to Buffalo Creek.  Continue approximately 4 miles further south (up the hill) on County Highway 126 beyond the North Fork of the S. Platte River crossing to the Forest Service gate on the west side of the highway. Turn west through the Forest Service gate for approximately ½ mile on a Forest Service fire road.
  • Look for the Trailblazers’ tent canopies on the left near the entrance to Buffalo Burn Trail.
